Welly, here I come!

WOW!!!

It has been a looong while!
There are so many things to blog about that I don't know where to start.
Ok, I'll just start at the day I arrived in Wellington. Ray Ray, you are right! Welly is scorching hot. I was half barbequed while trying to complete my first quest---bed hunting, on foot! It was surprisingly less troblesome than I'd expected. All the bedding stores are concentrated at one single area, Thorndorn Quay. Hunting for 'affordable' brand new bed, a.k.a the cheapest from the cheapest store require a bit of leaving behind your 'face' at the door. I have to 'fake' being interested while the enthusiastic salesmen/women tried to talk me through all their specials at the moment, and by that I mean special from $1000 to $700! Eventually, I came across the cheapest single bed plus spring mattress and bought a better-than-warehouse foam mattress as well *ahem* especially for GUESTS.

Quest number two is filling up the empty kitchen with pots and kitchen utensils. I went nuts on Briscoes because it was having a 30% to 60% summer sale. It took me three trips to fill up my kitchen satisfactorily *no more mr canai aka faithful driver friend so hence the three trips*.

Quest number three is furniture hunting. This took quite a while because I was trying to look for the cheapest deal (again) plus delivery. The warehouse has the cheapest deal so far but they charge $50 dollars for delivery -__-''. But luckily, one of my friend who has a CAR wanted to get some furniture from the warehouse as well, so I hooked along happily.

Just as I thought I'm done with digging an ever growing hole in my bank, my flatmate erm...thought it was a good idea that I get a matching size TV for her big TV cabinet in the lounge. After a few days of intense trademe-ing, I bought a 29' Sony Trinitron. I was quite satisfied with the buy because it is definitely better and the screen is wider than the TV at my Malaysian home with LESS cash involved.

Quest number four, find myself a church. I've always wanted to attend the legendary ARISE, planted by planet shakers. But somehow I missed their service twice. I got lost the first time and I was invited to Elim the second time. Maybe this Sunday then.

The hardest and most important quest is to prepare myself for my clinical years. I was terrified. A lot of people asked me if I was excited but really, after sitting through the briefing about the OSCE exams and how you have to ask around to be TAUGHT instead of having a team ready to spoon feed you scared me. I am shy and inert *yeah right* and flattering is not particularly my talent. I always had problem with teachers at school but now my education line depends on the grace and mercy of my seniors. The difference here is teachers and tutors get paid for their job, but TIs, housesurgeons, registrars and nurses don't get paid for teaching newbies. It is entirely voluntary on top of their busy schedules. But I guess that is how I would learn to build good relationships with my future colleagues and boss.

Last but not least, life is DULL without YOU guys!
